Hormone Therapy
For men, the primary sex hormone is testosterone. It is produced by the testes, and the level of production is controlled by the pituitary gland and brain. From the testes, testosterone moves through the blood to perform a wide range of essential bodily functions, including:
Red blood cell production
Sperm production
Bone mass
Muscle mass and strength
Libido
Testosterone production is at its highest between the ages of 20 and 30 and begins to decrease gradually after about age 35.
As testosterone levels decrease, it can cause several problems, which may include:
- Diminished sex drive
- Erectile dysfunction
- Urinary problems
- Low sperm count
- Enlarged or tender breasts (caused by an imbalance of testosterone and estradiol)
- Decreased muscle mass and strength
- Decreased bone strength
- Fatigue
- Decreased fertility
- Depression
- Hair loss
Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is used to treat both men and women experiencing imbalances or drops in their naturally-occurring hormones. Hormones are responsible for most of your essential bodily functions, so when they are disrupted in any way, cascade effects across all your systems can ensue.
Most commonly, BHRT is utilized to ease symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, although we can use them to treat a wide range of conditions, including:
- Mental clarity
- Low sex drive or libido
- Incontinence
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Andropause
- Fatigue
- Erectile dysfunction
- Insulin resistance
- Adrenal and thyroid disorders
- Osteoporosis
- Fibromyalgia
- Cancer
Symptoms that are common with menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, memory loss, weight gain, sleep issues, and low libido can be dramatically improved with BHRT. For many other conditions, BHRT can improve vitality, energy, mental clarity, mood, weight loss, and even muscle strength!
BHRT comes in several different forms, and at Rise2Health, we carefully take into consideration your symptoms, medical conditions, and history before making a recommendation for a specific treatment.
Options may include:
- Compounded natural hormones
- Nutraceutical supplementation
- Delivery of BHRT depends largely on the specific therapy option, but include creams, patches, gels, or injections.
Hormones are a vital part of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. No one needs to suffer the symptoms of hormone imbalance, and at Rise2Health, we are confident we can find the right solution for your unique needs.

Surgery isn’t your only option when it comes to relieving chronic pain and repairing damaged muscles, tendons, ligaments, or joints. At Rise2Health in Portland, Oregon, Joshua David, ND, offers a number of regenerative medicine treatments to restore function, improve mobility, and relieve pain. Whether you have chronic pain, a sports injury, or arthritis, regenerative medicine can help improve your quality of life without invasive surgery.
Rise2Health is proud to offer Prolotherapy and Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) therapy to our patients. Regenerative injection therapies have been around for decades. They are a very safe and effective non-surgical technique to heal injured tissue.
How do they work?
Prolotherapy uses a proliferant and an anesthetic solution which is injected at the site of the injured joint, ligament or tendon to enhance and promote rapid collagen synthesis. This translates to a fast healing response that completely heals compromised connective tissue. A complete recovery means the ligaments recover to their full original strength and ability to effectively hold bones together. The same holds with tendons that have been stretched or torn. This is a treatment that every athlete, every “Joe” and anyone who has been injured, regardless of the reason, should be aware of. These treatments are so effective and safe, it should be the first course of action for most orthopedic injuries which does not require surgery.
This is true for Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) which is considered a biologic in regenerative injection therapies. The use of one’s own blood and concentrated growth factors for tissue damage is incredible as well. The use of both PRP and classic prolotherapy have been shown over and over in studies to be the most effective regenerative therapies available.

Here at Rise2Health in Portland, OR , we specialize in helping you get back to feeling like yourself after an auto accident. We know that it can be a scary time and we make it our goal to ensure that you feel great as quickly as possible.
An auto accident can cause many different issues. Often an accident can throw your neck, your spine, or even your entire body out of alignment. Our trained professionals are able to work with you to find the exact cause of each of your issues and help you through exercises as well as regular chiropractic care so that you begin to feel like yourself again.
One of the main injuries that can occur in an auto accident is whiplash. Whiplash is a sudden movement of the head being pushed quickly backward and then forward. It can even happen side to side. Whiplash destabilizes your spine and can even cause pain in other areas. You may notice shoulder pain, blurred vision, neck pain, increased headaches, dizziness, arm pain, and much more.
Chiropractic care is important after an auto accident because if the effects go untreated, they can become a long-term problem that will continue to affect you for many years to come. In an auto accident, you may not feel the side effects right away. In fact, it may take weeks or even months to notice the full effect of the accident.
Even if you had a minor auto accident, you will want to see a chiropractor to ensure that everything is still aligned. If you are feeling any pain, we at Rise2Health will work with you to take the necessary steps to help you feel better.
OZONE has a stimulating effect on fibroblastic cells that regenerate the damaged collagen affecting painful or sore joints. It treats low back, neck and all the related joint structures in the body such as a knee or ankle.
PROLOZONE causes repair and tightening of the lax structures, partially torn connective tissue and ligaments. The proliferant effects of traditional dextrose PROLOTHERAPY, PRP and OZONE are therapies that are designed to give permanent relief to a compromised or damaged area of the body such as a lower back, knee or a chronically sore elbow. It is not just a palliative treatment. The goal is a permanent solution to acute injury and chronic joint pain.
Prolozone
Prolozone is composed of the word “Prolo” which is short for proliferation because the treatment causes the proliferation (growth/formation) of new ligament tissue in areas where it has become weak.
Prolozone Therapy is an injection technique similar to traditional Prolotherapy that uses the gas OZONE. It tends to accelerate the healing process of traditional dextrose prolotherapy.

Safe Medication Monitoring
There are many medications that have short and long term effects on an individual's body. It's important to both Dr. David and the patient's wellbeing that certain follow-ups, labs, and levels are completed periodically. Frequency is typically determined by a variety of factors, such as: age, family history, certain diagnoses, specific medications, and more. Once frequency is determined based on specific factors, these follow-ups will indicate how the patient's body is tolerating the medication(s). Dosage changes may occur after these appointments.
